America is being rebuilt and you can help!

America is falling apart and it might just be the best thing that ever happened to us. For over two centuries our federal government has been trying to meld our states, cities, and neighborhoods into one America. We aren't one nation, we're fifty unique states. I'm not only an American but I'm a southerner, a Floridian, an Orlando native; I live, eat, and breathe in my community, not in Los Angeles, not in New York, and most of all, not in Washington DC; just as people who live in those places embrace their own lifestyles. Living in one of the most visited destinations on earth and having done some traveling myself, I understand how important diversity can be. We are our communities and we need to able to take care of the things that affect us directly.

This website is dedicated to developing ideas and projects that will enable local governments and the communities they represent, to reclaim their rights through self-sufficiency. This isn't a pitch for creating hippie communes or me preaching about how buying “local” helps your chakras align. Rather, the focus here is on developing ideas and simple strategies which will allow you to contribute to the wellbeing of your neighborhood, not faceless recipients on the opposite coast you'll never meet. Imagine, local healthcare, local public transport, local—you think of it, together we can make it happen.

We may live in different areas, but we all have ideas on how to empower our local governments. The more eyes on a problem the more likely it’ll be overcome. So if you think you have something to contribute, take the first step and share your thoughts on twitter.com/policyshop.

"Why should I twitter my amazing idea?" you ask. Well, so you can hash-out your proposal with others, getting to the core of what it is. Working on it until you have something everyone can use. We want to flush out the best plans and take those all-important steps from words to actions.
